How your railway is doing: how punctual your trains are and who caused the delays (and what Schedule 8 pays), how full they are, how many people make their connections, and what your passengers think of it all - Transport Focus's survey, the one measure of their satisfaction, which brings more of them or puts them off.
Transport Focus, the independent passenger watchdog, asks people about the journey they've just made. Its survey is published at the end of each four-week railway period for every company that ran at least 30 trains in it: the share of passengers satisfied with punctuality, room to sit or stand, cleanliness, value for money, information when things go wrong, staff, and the stations. Punctuality counts most. It's the one measure of how satisfied your passengers are: at 79% satisfied it neither helps nor hurts, and from the next period on each point above brings 1% more passengers (up to 10% more) and each point below loses 1% (up to 15% fewer). It also counts when you bid for an operator's contract.
